Return of the Sagan is my next work-in-progress. After this book, I will finish the sequel to PEOPLE OF THE SWORD.
Return of the Sagan is about a generation-space ship, the U.S.S. Carl Sagan, which returns to Earth after nearly 300 years of space flight to find the Earth void of human life. The book itself follows a group of marines and scientists who land on the planet in the Great Lakes region (Buffalo-metro area) to try to determine what the frak happened (had to throw in some Battlestar Galactica words). The marines and scientists are guided by an anthropologist who suffers from OCD (shocker, huh?). This anthropologist, Francis, long found comfort in fantasy novels, which were his means to escape the obsessions brought about by OCD. Once on Earth, away from the technology that triggers much of his OCD, Francis sees Earth through the eyes of an explorer, eager to immerse himself in the natural settings where OCD fails to harness control. This is very much an outlet for me to deal with my ocd while also letting others know what the disorder truly entails. It's also my first foray into sci-fi. I will post the 1st chapter latter this month. Take care.
